Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Plag Detect website (https://plagdetect.org) and the plagiarism & AI-content detection services we make available (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, purchasing credits, or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.

2. The Service

Plag Detect provides an interface that lets you submit text documents for plagiarism similarity and AI-generated-content analysis. Each scan consumes one “slot” (credit) from your account balance. The Service is delivered electronically; there are no physical goods.

3. Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your password and access credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must provide accurate, current information when registering.
  • One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account.

4. Purchases, Pricing & Merchant of Record

Slot credits are sold in packages displayed on our Pricing page and inside your dashboard. All prices are shown in U.S. dollars (USD) unless otherwise indicated and exclude applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout.

Payments are processed by PayPro Global, Inc. (“PayProGlobal”), our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. When you make a purchase, your order is fulfilled by PayProGlobal on our behalf and your card statement will show a charge from PayProGlobal. PayProGlobal’s own terms (payproglobal.com/terms-and-conditions) apply to the payment transaction in addition to these Terms.

5. Delivery

Slot credits are delivered electronically to your account, normally within a few minutes after PayProGlobal confirms the payment. If credits do not appear within 24 hours, contact us at support@plagdetect.org.

6. Slot Validity & Expiry

Unused slot credits expire after the validity period shown at the time of purchase (typically 30 days). Expired credits cannot be restored and are non-refundable.

7. Refunds

Our Refund Policy forms part of these Terms. In short: because slot credits are digital goods that can be redeemed instantly, refunds are not available once credits have been added to your account. Refunds may still be granted at our discretion for duplicate charges, failed delivery, or where required by mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the AUP without refund.

9. Your Content & Licence

You retain ownership of the documents you upload. You grant Plag Detect a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit your documents solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you (including transmitting the document to the underlying similarity-detection provider). We do not sell your documents and we do not add them to any public similarity index.

10. Third-Party Services & Trademarks

The Service interacts with third-party platforms to perform similarity and AI-content analysis. Plag Detect is an independent service. All third-party names and marks are the property of their respective owners and are used, where referenced, for descriptive purposes only.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, its source code, user interface, documentation, and branding are owned by Plag Detect and protected by intellectual-property laws. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for its intended purpose.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the similarity scores or AI-detection results will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular academic or legal purpose. The results are informational only and are not a substitute for human judgement.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plag Detect shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plag Detect, its officers, employees, and partners from any claim or demand arising out of your breach of these Terms, your use of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any breach of these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, and governing-law provisions) will survive.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

17. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the place of business of Plag Detect, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where you have non-waivable consumer rights in your country of residence.
